Love

My Wild Orchid flowers finally arrived after two weeks of patiently waiting. They are a UK based business, so the wait wasn't bad and well worth it. Multimedia Tag in aquas. This was definitely fun to put together and I just love the blueish tones. Many relate pinks and reds to love however, the soft blues and multiple textures were screaming romance and love <3

Supplies & Techniques

Paper:
Medium Thick Chipboard
White Handmade Paper

Flowers:
Wild Orchid Tea Roses
Wild Orchid Open Roses

Embellishments:
White Tulle, Bo Bunny Brads, Gems, Metallic Bead Spray, Bird, and Heart With Wings

Stamp:
Studio G - Love

Texture was added using homemade texture paste of baby powder, white glue, and white acrylic craft paint. The chipboard was painted with a mixture of pearl white and Bahama Blue acrylic craft paint.

Roses Pearls & Lace

A first attempt at Shabby Chic with roses, pearls, and lace which are lovely together. I really enjoyed making the roses and hand painting them. They were time consuming yet fairly easy to make. I love the shabby vintage style, it's so romantic and reminds me of Victorian dresses.
This is my version of Sketch Saturday # 354.

Supplies & Technique:

Paper
Rose print and vintage letter paper-Free printable's on Pinterest
Core'dinations card stock- Vanilla Cream
Rose card stock

Cutting Files

Hydrangea Blooms - Wild Orchid
Roses - I made the roses, hand painted them, and added glitter to the edges.

There is a tutorial on youtube by Shabby Beautiful on how to make the roses. You can view the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPm8R_MtmXo

Flower Hair Pins

I have been working on some hair pins for my closest friends and they turned out just lovely. The flower is a silhouette file that is so easy to make and the glitter glue adds a little stiffness to the flower that will make them last a little longer. The flowers are approximately 1.5 inches wide once they are fluffed out a bit. They are perfect for adding a little bit of pretty to your hair.

Supplies and Technique:

Paper - Darice Core'dintations; Vanilla Cream, Pink, Purple, and Mint.
Embellishments - Glitter Glue and Pearls
Cutting Files - 3D Rolled Spiral Flower by Lori Whitlock
Leaves - Hand Cut
Hot Glue

For each petal, I gave a little twist with tweezers and then fluffed the flower out by pressing down on the petals.

Spring Flowers

Greetings from Ohio where the weather is finally starting to warm up! According to our local weather, Northern Ohio will be in the upper 40's and low 50's this week. This means that all the snow we have will be melting and flowers will soon be emerging from the ground, YES!
I am so excited by warmer temps that I decided to create this lovely card designed by Regina Easter and sold by The Cutting Cafe.

I really enjoyed making this card and all the different colors used came together nicely with the craft paper used on the flower pot.

UPDATE: I am so excited! Regina Easter over at The Cutting Cafe has added my card as the Customer Spotlight. You can see it here:  Spring Flowers Customer Spotlight

Tulips

I like the simplicity of this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

I can't wait till spring to start gardening. This lovely print of a watering can and tulips makes me want to feel the earth between my fingers, plant more flowers, and start a vegetable garden.

The spring colors give me something to look at while it is snowing here in Ohio. They make me want to kick up my heels and dance among the tulips....or tiptoe :)

Supplies:

  • The blue and white background is from a paper pack by Darice called Embellish By Dena.
  • Pink card stock for the trim around the print.
  • The print is a Silhouette Store print & cut design by Sarah Bailey.
  • Text is Samantha Upright and drawn with Sil Sketch Pens in pink metallic as is the faux stitching.
  • Embellished with pink ribbon.

Hope all is well in the world of crafting!

Cherry Blossoms

My newest creation is this Asian themed card in black, red, and gold. Embellished with a layered fan, coin trinket with black ribbon, and pearls.  This card was inspired by an oriental rug that I seen with beautiful cherry blossoms and my love for Japanese designs and style. Over at lisasomerville.com the blogger challenge theme is Travel.

Supplies and Technique:
  • Red Card stock
  • Black textured card stock cut with a Silhouette Cameo using the Sil store design "Lattice Frame."
  • Gold semigloss card stock; embossed with an Anna Griffin designed Cherry Blossom folder by Cuttlebug. The card stock also has an overlay of black paper dye which was brushed on and then wiped off. Embellished with pearls
  • The fan is made from three layers of card stock and also cut with the Cameo and Sil store design "Flower Fan" and embellished with pearls.
  • The coin is a trinket and is embellished with black ribbon.

Spring Chicken

Mounds of snow and temperatures low... -2 degrees with a windchill factor of -23. Brrrrr its cold in Ohio. I have spring fever, I want to feel the warm sun on my face and enjoy my back deck which is currently covered in snow! Speaking of spring, maybe this card will encourage Mother Nature to end her affair with Old Man Winter.
